After the success of our Ghost Medallion earrings, Luke Azzopardi studio has designed the Fragment Ghost Medallion earrings, a limited edition, 3D printed pair of earrings which are inspired by Renaissance coins and medallions. The earrings are crafted out of 3D printed resin and finished off using both yellow and white gold leaf, which is meant to deteriorate beautifully over time. Their lightweight structure offers effortless versatility.

 MALTA INTERNATIONAL CONTEMPORARY ART SPACE (MICAS) GALA 2022
Malta has been a cradle for the collision of cultures across generations and the art that has surfaced from our shores has inspired and illuminated civilisations across history. The programme at the heart of the event entirely curated by Luke Azzopardi Studio was designed as a continuation of this heritage and a celebration of the sacred moment when art lives and performs. It is a reminder that no matter how much times change, so much about what inspires and makes us who we are, remains the same.

The gala doubled as a seated concert, and the lineup that was put together for this event brought together women whose collective outputs condense the zeitgeist of Maltese contemporary performance. Forever looking to the divine feminine as a source of inspiration, Luke Azzopardi Studio crafted a beautiful whimsical musical adventure, borrowing from the talents and voices of some of Malta’s leading artists.

The evening was in celebration of artist Michele Oka Doner and her artwork, The Palm Goddess of Malta.

On the museum's ruins, the national museum of archaeology, heritage Malta & Malta arts council, 2018

Collaboration

Luke Azzopardi Studio has embarked on a number of large scale collaborations, including producing work for the London Design Biennale, Arts Council Malta, Heritage Malta, ZfinMalta as well as the Three Palaces Festival. 

A notable example is Of Hell and Exile, a multi-faceted, interlinked and fully immersive project The process-led nature of this project sees a multimedia dialogue between artists who explore Dante’s Divina Commedia through the eyes of Anna Akhmatova. Akhmatova was one of the few artists who remained in Russia during Stalin’s regime. For of hell and exile, the Akhmatova songs by John Tavener were performed and recorded by Gillian Zammit and Akos Kertesz. The project speaks of notions of identity, displacement and the universality of human suffering. It aims to unveil a ‘work-in-progress’ style artistic vision with a socio-political tinge.

Opera

Luke Azzopardi Studio has embarked on a number of opera productions, marrying the studio's fashion methodology with theatrical ingenuity to create a series of critically acclaimed productions.

Led by the creative director, the studio specializes in verismo operas, showcasing a profound understanding of the genre's intricacies and nuances. Notably, Luke Azzopardi Studio has lent its artistic prowess to the staging of Giacomo Puccini's timeless masterpieces, including Tosca, La Bohème, and Madama Butterfly. These productions have received widespread acclaim for their meticulous attention to detail, innovative stagecraft, and emotive storytelling.

In addition to their remarkable contributions to Puccini's operas, the studio has also worked on new productions, such as Gioachino Rossini's Armida, Christoph Willibald Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, and Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Each production bears the hallmark of Luke Azzopardi Studio's dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional opera staging while remaining faithful to the essence of the original compositions.
